All our foster animals have been examined by a licensed veterinarian and have a clean bill of health prior to adoption. We strive to place our foster animals in the most suitable home that best fits the animal’s needs. All foster animals are spayed/neutered (appropriate age), current on vaccines, heartworm tested, FIV/FLV tested, and micro chipped. To consider adoption, an adoption application needs to be completed, reviewed, and approved.

SEEKING FOSTER HOMES....Please help us help them! We are currently seeking foster homes for the "special needs" animals that may need a little TLC before being adopted...If interested please fill out our online application: http://lapeersadoptables.org/foster-application/ It is best to live within reasonable driving distance to our veterinarian which is in Dryden and/or Romeo. A foster home is a temporary home for a canine or feline until a permanent home is found for the animal. LAA will provide all necessary supplies and medical care! Before you fill out the form, please make sure you meet these requirements: - Must be 21 years of age - If you rent your home you must have a consent form from your landlord to have a dog/cat. - All current owned dogs and cats in the home MUST be spayed/neutered if they are 6 months of age or older, unless there is a medical reason prohibiting it. - All current owned dogs and cats in the home are up to date on vaccinations. - You agree to a home visit by one of the LAA volunteers. You must agree to the following conditions: - Agree to have the foster pet wear some form of ID tag at all times (license, name tag, etc.) - Agree to never allow the foster pet to be off leash or roam when it is outdoors unless it is in a securely fenced in area. - Agree to have the foster pet reside in the home, not outside. - The foster dog/cat may not be left outdoors when you are not home. If you should decide to adopt your foster pet, an adoption application will need to be submitted and an adoption fee will be collected. Thank you for giving the homeless animals a chance!.
This is Maggie (some may remember her as Wilma)! Maggie spent almost 7 months at Lapeer County Animal Control and was returned 3 times from adoption due to failure and human error 🙁 This girl has been through a lot this past year and she is now in a home where she is being fostered. Her current foster has other dogs and as Maggie is adjusting to the routine, she wants to be the only dog in the home as she wants all the attention and who can blame her after all she has been through!! Maggie is very smart, a quick learner, eager to please, loves to play, enjoys mental challenges (would make a GREAT agility dog), has excellent listening skills, knows basic manners, and is learning on trusting humans since she has been let down multiply times! Maggie is looking for a home that will spoil her as she deserves it! She is a great dog and would love someone that will take her on daily walks as she is an excellent walking partner! Maggie is house/crate trained, spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, on monthly preventatives, pending DNA testing, and is approx 3-5 years old! Maggie is a wonderful gal that is looking for a home with no small children under 12 years old, no other dogs is best, still testing with cats, and a fenced yard. If you are interested in Maggie (nickname Magpie) please email us at LapeersAdoptables@yahoo.com or fill out our online adoption application at the following link: http://lapeersadoptables.org/canine-adoption-form/
**COURTESY POST** This is adorable Brodie who is just too cute and has the personality to boot!!! He is approx 50-55 lbs and is still very much a puppy and will need some basic training! Brodie does better with another dog in the home as he can get anxious being alone but does well with a buddy 🙂 Brodie is decent on leash and is a good walker once he settles down, will need to learn basic manners once settled in a home, and is house/crate trained. Brodie is dog friendly (meet and greet needed), unsure of cats as he has not been exposed to them, and older children over 10 due to his energy level. Brodie is 8-10 months old, is a Labrador mix (maybe some Pit Bull Terrier).....his history is unknown as he was brought into a shelter as a stray. Brodie is beyond friendly and sweet and would love a family of his own! Brodie has been given an exam by a local veterinarian, is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, going to be neutered, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $200...we are also willing to help an adoptive family with adjusting into a new home and some training. ??? For more information or to set up a meet and greet please email DrydenFarmRescue@outlook.com or fill out our online adoption application at the following link: http://lapeersadoptables.org/canine-adoption-form/
Meet Bam Bam!! Bam Bam was saved from a high kill shelter on the day he was going to be euthanized because he was diagnosed heartworm positive! He is the sweetest, most affectionate boy that is full of kisses and love to give an active family! Bam Bam has currently been in a quiet foster home as he needed to recover from his heartworm treatment but was given the release this week to slowly return to normal activity! Bam Bam had a mild case of heartworm and since it was treated early in his life, he can now live a normal healthy life! He is a young boy that is higher energy and will require daily exercise, both physical and mental. Bam Bam was originally a stray when brought into a shelter so the only information is gathered by spending time with him. He is 100% house/crate trained, can be a picky eater and is very gentle at taking food from you. His favorite is chewing on bully sticks and long daily walks! Bam Bam benefits from wearing a no pull harness while on his walks as this helps with his pulling when investigating smells. He enjoys playing with a variety of toys and will entertain himself, in fact we are not sure he played with toys in the past as it took some coaxing to get him to play. He loves rope toys and playing tug of war, fetch with a variety of different balls, and loves squeaking squeaky toys. Bam Bam listens well and knows some basic manners but would benefit from a basic obedience class and someone that is willing to take him out into the world to catch up on his socialization. Bam Bam also is learning that jumping on people does not get their attention and that mouthing during playtime stops the game.....He LOVES to go for car rides and sniff out the cracked windows in the back seat. Bam Bam is a people dog...he loves all humans that he meets and anyone that will show him attention as we do not think he received much in a his short life. He is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, neutered, dog friendly with proper introductions, kid friendly but children older than 10 please due to his higher energy, unsure on cats but best to say not recommended. He is approximately 1 1/2 to 2 years old, 63 lbs., and a Labrador Retriever Mix (possibly with some Pit Bull Terrier). If interested in wanting to meet this fella, please email us at LapeersAdoptables@yahoo.com.
Hazel and Romeo! They are siblings that are very bonded to each other. Both came from a not so good situation and have been in a temp foster home and really need a forever home or foster to adopt situation. Both are great dogs, friendly, house/crate trained, and are learning basic manners along with a few tricks! They listen well but will need someone committed to both of them to continue with their training and to allow them patience while they adjust to a new home. They would love a place where they can run and play together...Both are Pit Bull Terrer mixes (we think with some American Bulldog), 1 1/2 years old, spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines. Unsure of cats, older children are best...If interested in meeting this duo please email Froggy_girl33@yahoo.com or fill out our online application at the following link: http://lapeersadoptables.org/canine-adoption-form/
